Youn Kyoung Cho
Born in seoul in 1971, she moved to nice in 1999. At the age of 19, she enrolled at the école des beaux-arts in strasbourg, where she studied for six years, and explored a wide range of materials. She then turned to sculpture, working with glass, wood, clay, plaster and more… her works often feature bathers with asian features, whose expressions are both comical and touching. The playful nature of her sculptures captivates at first glance, but it is the subtle work on expression and posture that gives them their true strength. In 2012, a major exhibition entitled girl’s generation was dedicated to her work.
Her roots in nice nurture her creativity and sensitivity. Her work is widely recognised and closely associated with the contemporary art scene in nice.
