Alain Bellino
Born in nice in 1955, he discovered metalwork and gilding at a very young age in his father’s workshop, which specialised in the restoration of bronzes and silverware. He went on to refine his technical skills in the field of decorative objects, eventually embarking on an artistic career in the late 2000s. His material of choice is ornate bronze, sourced from antique decorative elements which he meticulously welds and reassembles.
He creates a fantastical bestiary: dinosaurs, dragons, giant insects, cybernetic creatures, as well as symbolic vanities.
His work evokes arcimboldo, through the fusion of varied elements to compose astonishing figures. Each piece is unique, resulting from a formal and historical recontextualisation.
He brings ancient fragments and contemporary forms into dialogue in a resolutely inventive spirit. Based in nice, he is part of the regional art scene while embracing a universal aesthetic.
