Born in 1965, laurence jenkell, known as jenk, is a french contemporary artist and painter renowned worldwide for her larger-than-life bonbon sculptures! The pop art artist lives and works in the south of france. She opened a gallery in monaco in 2022, and plans to set up a new studio-showroom in valbonne in early 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For over 20 years, laurence jenkell has been sculpting brightly coloured, larger-than-life sweets of various sizes, using materials such as plexiglas, polyester, bronze, aluminium, marble and murano glass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The iconic bonbon has become her artistic signature. But more than a medium, it has evolved into a visual language. Her works reflect a broader cultural exploration, where bonbon combines both simplicity and universality. With great freedom and determination, the artist conducts her research and develops her themes, thus enriching her repertoire of forms. While the bonbon remains the core of her creative identity, she skilfully explores its many possibilities. She adapts her iconic wrapping series into collections such as adn and robots. The artist extrapolates the twisting gesture to highlight social issues such as environmental and societal concerns, as well as animal welfare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2017, she unveiled the wrapping twist sculptures, inspired by crumpled sweet wrappers, and in 2022, she created mona candy, a collection paying tribute to monaco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In late 2022, the artist launched her \u2018make your own bonbon\u2019\u2019creative workshops for adults and children, where each participant creates with the artist\u2019s guidance, their own 10 cm plexiglass wrapping bonbon sculpture, signed by jenk studio and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her works are exhibited in over 50 countries, in numerous galleries as well as in major private, public and institutional collections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
